Our Breast Health Program includes regular interdisciplinary conferences to review your case and course of treatment. The South County Hospital Cancer Conference brings together all members of the care continuum -- nurses, medical oncologist, pathologist, surgeon, primary caregiver, radiation oncologist, and Breast Health Coordinator -- to coordinate your treatment and to ensure we provide you with the best possible care path. Specialized counseling is available to you through our behavioral health program.
An annual mammogram is still the best way to detect breast cancer in its earliest stages, when it is most treatable. 3D breast tomosynthesis, an additional tool used in screening for breast cancer, is now available at South County Health’s East Greenwich and Westerly Medical & Wellness Centers, as well as the South County Hospital campus.
This state-of-the-art, 3D digital mammography technology is delivered in a convenient and comfortable setting. Walk-in appointments are accommodated whenever possible. With 3D digital mammography, patients can expect precise images and timely results. The radiologist can see breast tissue detail in a way never before possible. Our Cancer Rehabilitation program serves all cancer survivors, whether they are beginning treatment, finished with treatment, or experiencing late effects or unresolved issues from a previous cancer treatment. Our program is open to everyone no matter the prognosis, cancer stage or phase of recovery.
We offer you ongoing breast cancer support programs, such as our Circle of Friends. Whether you are newly diagnosed with breast cancer, in treatment or in post-treatment -- or are a friend of family member of someone who is -- Circle of Friends offers a variety of support services and offerings, such as Reiki, reflexology, massage, nutrition counseling and more.
