South County Hospital Healthcare System is southern Rhode Island's resource for occupational therapy (OT) programs, offering evaluation and treatment for a full range of orthopedic and neurological conditions. Whether you are recovering from a stroke, hand surgery, or are living with the challenges of arthritis, our therapists are here to help you achieve your optimal level of independence.

A plan that's right for you
Focusing primarily on the hand and upper extremity, our occupational therapists work closely with you to increase your overall functioning and independence through the use of a variety of modalities, hands-on treatment, and therapeutic exercises and activities. Specific occupational therapy programs include:

• Comprehensive hand therapy program to restore hand function for those who have had hand surgery, wrist fractures, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, among others.
• Hand arthritis program to restore hand function through joint protection techniques, splints, and exercises.
• Stroke/neurological rehab of the hand and upper extremity to promote more effective performance of daily tasks.
• Cognitive rehabilitation program to promote memory, attention, visual perceptual skills, problem-solving skills, and overall level of functioning.
• Adaptive techniques for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to increase independence through the use of adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and compensatory techniques.
• Driving evaluation program

Outpatient occupational therapy services are conveniently located in South Kingstown at Brightview Commons, 57 Grandville Court, South County Commons (just off Route 1) and the Medical & Wellness Center, located at 3461 South County Trail (Rt.2), East Greenwich.
