Anticoagulation Management Service
401-789-5572
The South County Hospital Anticoagulation Management Service is the only physician-directed clinic in southern Rhode Island dedicated to the assessment, monitoring, and education of individuals taking anticoagulation medications such as Coumadin® (warfarin), a commonly prescribed blood thinner.
A lifesaving resource
If you are currently taking warfarin, the Anticoagulation Management Service is an important health resource for you. Studies have shown that patients who participate in anticoagulation management clinics have a much lower incidence of heart attacks, strokes, and bleeding complications when compared to patients who are cared for in the usual manner.
Highly trained staff, latest technology
The Anticoagulation Management Service is overseen by a medical director and staffed by pharmacists who specialize in anticoagulation therapy and utilize the latest technology requiring only a drop of blood obtained from a finger stick. Results are available in less than a minute, so that the pharmacist working with you can determine if a dose change is needed. A report of your visit to the clinic is then forwarded to your physician.
