Bright Beginnings 2008 Class Schedule
The South County Hospital Bright Beginnings Childbirth Education program provides the southern Rhode Island community with a comprehensive selection of classes, programs, and support for new parents and soon-to-be parents. Our highly respected programs are led by Certified Childbirth Educators, and are designed to meet your needs, answer your questions, and offer you support before, during, and after pregnancy. During this special time in your life, we are pleased to offer you our expertise and caring support every step of the way.
Ongoing Courses and Programs
Our ongoing courses and programs include our Breastfeeding Support Group, Childbirth Education classes (offered as a one day class and as a five-week series), Infant/Child CPR, New Moms' Club, Parenting Class, Pre-Natal Breastfeeding Information Class, Prenatal and Postpartum Exercise Classes, Childbirth Education Refresher Class, and Sibling Class (designed for children ages 3-9), among others. Baby-Friendly, Lactation Services
The South County Hospital Maternity Services were the first in Rhode Island to earn the prestigious Baby-Friendly designation from The World Health Organization for the promotion and support of breastfeeding. We offer you a full range of lactation services, including certified lactation consultants, classes, one-on-one sessions, and a 24-hour "Warm Line" (401-788-1226) to offer you support and answer your questions any hour of the day.
New Mom's Club. Meets every other Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to noon, at the Hospital (Wakefield, RI), and every other Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., at the Community Center in North Kingstown, RI. Join other new moms and their babies to share support and insight in a casual and social group setting. Led by a certified childbirth educator and OB nurse, it's a great opportunity for moms to get answers and share tips on a variety of topics, including feeding, baby sleeplessness, colic, parental sleep deprivation, postpartum stress, and much more. Certified Lactation Consultants are also available to answer questions. Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, you are welcome! Call 792-2229 or 788-1225 for more information.
Childbirth Education. Attend a 5-week Wednesday-evening series of classes, or an all-day Saturday class. Call 792-2229 or 788-1225 for more information.
Parenting Class. Offered once a month most months throughout the year; Wednesdays, 7 - 9 PM. Call 792-2229 or 788-1225 for more information.
Sibling Class. One Saturday a month, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., ongoing. Ages 3 and up welcome. Call 792-2229 or 788-1225 for more information.
