Free Lecture--February 27th-- Banish Those Varicose Veins!
It is not too early to be thinking about warmer temperatures and putting on your shorts and bathing suit! On Wednesday, February 27, at 6:30 at the South Kingstown Guild, South County Hospital will be sponsoring a free lecture about the TriVex System for the removal of varicose veins.
The program will be presented by Dr. Andrew Dowd, Board Certified General and Vascular Surgeon. The lecture will be followed by an extensive Q & A session.

Hospital Auxiliary Supports the South County Hospital Community |
The South County Hospital Auxiliary was founded in 1933 with a mission "to enhance the quality of care received by the Hospital's patients."
Toward that end, the Auxiliary provides opportunities for adults to volunteer at the Hospital. More than 230 men and women of diverse ages and backgrounds volunteer their time to provide support in virtually all areas of patient care services. And, for the 7th consecutive year, the South County Hospital Auxiliary is offering a $1,000 scholarship award for students pursuing education or training for a career in healthcare. | "Safe Soccer 2008" Provides Parents, Coaches and Kids Tips on Avoiding Injury |
On Thursday, March 6, South County Orthopedics will sponsor a free injury prevention and training clinic, Safe Soccer 2008 from 7-9 pm at Sports Performance, 10 High Street, Wakefield. Soccer is the most popular sport in the United States and over 4 million soccer players are registered in high school and youth soccer programs. Of the 200,000-plus soccer injuries that are reported each year, 45 percent occur in participants under the age of 15.
Orthopedic physician, Dr. R. Risinger, as well as a physical therapist and a certified strength and conditioning coach, will provide coaches, parents and players with comprehensive information on common soccer-related injuries, including ACL tears, and practical information on how to respond to them. This clinic will also provide coaches with a preventative training program aimed at reducing lower-extremity injuries. There will be an opportunity for a Q & A session.
Attendees will receive door prizes and free raffle prizes, including free Sports Performance training sessions. Refreshments will be served.
